Farewell from Autus|Obsidian, Mount Humontis

The priests there milled about, either going about their duties or in contemplation. Temples tended to be the same wherever you went; including the loud crash and cheers that rose from the Soahcian wing.

One priest, actually quite a young man by the look of him, hastened over towards Nicholas, bright-eyed at the chance to cut in before a senior priest could tend to him. "Welcome to the temple of the Forces and the Earth-Mother," he greeted cheerfully.

"Thank you," Nicholas said, smiling. "I'm looking for information about the temple on top of Humontis. Do you know anything about it?"

[Kender Bard]

"Oh, that's a fine temple," the young priest, Kryillos, remarked. "Not the easiest of hikes but many believe that's all part of showing your devotion. Did you want to know how to get up there or did you just want a little information on it?"

"Anything you can tell me about it," Nicholas replied eagerly. "I want to go there, but I'd like to know what I can look forward to."

[Kender Bard]

"Well it's actually not quite as adorned as most temples you've probably seen," Kryillos remarked. He started to walk at a sedate pace and beckoned for Nicholas to follow him, though he wasn't going anywhere in particular. "Everything there is made of stone and wood and so all ornamentation is in the form of statues and carvings. The foundation and the pillars are stone. Once, the roof was as well but something happened long ago and most of it caved in. Rather than try to replace it - laborious work even for Earth soils - the Earth plants simply coaxed the nearby trees to intertwine their branches so completely that it made a living roof instead."

"The view is... spectacular. It's at the very pinnacle of the mountain, you see, and nothing obstructs the view from any direction so you can see for miles and miles. The visiting Winds love it, naturally."

"Wow," Nicholas said, trying to envision it. "How long does it take to reach it?"

[Kender Bard]

"Quite a hike," the young priest admitted. "From dawn to dusk at a good, brisk pace. More leisurely and you might be better off staying at the halfway inn overnight. Most people do that seeing as one still has to come back down after they get up there and staying overnight in the temple is drafty and cold at best."

"I think I can handle it," Nicholas replied confidently. "Which side of the mountain is the inn on, just in case?"



(Sorry for the delay, I just got back to school this week and I left my laptop at home, so my computer access has been a bit limited.)

"The north side," Kryillos answered. The priest hesitated and thought about what he had to look forward later; lots of chores, mostly. "Say, would you like a little companionship up the mountain? It's not that it's difficult to find or dangerous, but it can be a rather... quiet walk alone."

"Sure, that'd probably be all right," Nicholas said. "How soon would you be willing to leave?

Kryillos tried not to break into a big, goofy grin. "Oh, soon," the priest replied. "I'd just need to grab my knapsack and take a couple things along with me as well as report to one of the senior priests so they know where I went. Other than that, whenever you are."
