"What can you do?" she asked.
Simon returned, then, with water. He handed it to the girl, who held it dutifully as Simon untied Shima. "Sorry about the ropes, I had to make sure you wouldn't flit out of here as soon as you woke up." He took the water back from the girl and offered it to him. "I see you've met Jeline. Isn't she a precious thing?"

"Generally we make people wear tied patches on them and keep their hands bound so they can't use them," Simon explained. "But as I told you, I'm not a bad man. I'm only hoping you won't run off." He glanced up and gave Shima a sharp look. "If you did, it would be on my head, and I could be accused of assisting an escapee. It'd go hard on me."
Jeline fidgeted. Simon smiled and tussled her hair again and she perked up.
~Fascinating..she appears to be well cared for and likes him..I suppose if I had to be somebodies slave it's good I got this man. However I still can't simply accept this..~ Shima cleared his throat. "So, am I expected to really...do anything or what?" He asked in confusion of why Simon bought him in the first place.

"Well, sort of," Simon said, sounding a bit perplexed himself. "Like I said, I've never gotten a Mind before. Usually I take Winds. You can watch them fly, study their wings, and such. Jeline is extra special because I got to watch her wings maturing as she grew the past couple years. She hasn't yet had her first flight, even. That'll be an exciting day."
"I can't wait," she sighed wistfully.
"...At any rate, I think later I would appreciate experiencing some small teleportation jumps around the place, to see what it's like and write down what I learn," Simon went on. "Not right away though. That'd be suspicious. I'm supposed to be 'breaking' you for now."

"You need to stay in here," Simon warned. "Anytime we go out together, you need to be bound, gagged, the works. I think if we keep you covered in enough dirt, we can explain away a lack of bruises. The rest - well... we'll see."
By now, other Winds were cautiously creeping back, peeking into the room.
"For now, don't leave the barn, okay?" Simon said firmly.
