Iah lowered his head slightly to "preen" Hikari's hair with his long bill for a moment. "You don't know that, fox-kit." He noticed some of the guards nearing the shore and fanned out his feathers, squawking loudly to get their attention.
Hikari followed along, sniffling and sneezing, but she kept glancing to the still raging river. "Do you...do you think she's okay?" she asked, a dull light of hope in her eyes. She had seen the look cast between the two, but, she didn't want to believe that...not yet.
The guard knew better than to give a brutal truth - especially to a child and especially to someone who had just gone through such an ordeal. "We will," he said firmly. "Lieutenant Quintin is on the case and he's a great swimmer. Not to mention we're the finest Ronduin has to offer, eh? Let's just see to you for now." He brought her inside and towards a fire, calling out for the two who had reported the incident. "We got one!"
Hikari nodded, her ears, already soaked and sagging from the mass amount of water, wilted lower. She hoped someone would find her sister. She didn't want to think about not being able to see her again. She was too tired to even lift her head and look to see to whom the guard was speaking - rather, calling - to.

The guard shook his head but kept a careful eye over Hikari. "Nay, sir, but we are searching. If she's anywhere within our perimeter, we'll find her, I'm certain." But a nervous look about him suggested otherwise.
The two of them listened carefully at the two, Hikari's ears wilting. Disentangling herself from Eugen, she approached Thoth and tugged at his sleeve. "Sirs...? If my sister isn't found, what shall become of us? We don't have any parents...we're....we're runaways from Morilanta..."
