Games of a different kind (for Constantine)

Constantine smiled and nodded. "Aye, from Mentis. And yes, I would be delighted to hear of your tale."

Sky tilted her head up and back, showing her neck, as she tried to think of a way to describe how she came about here.

"Well," she started after a minute. "It was actually myself and my brother. I know nothing of our parents, as Eclipse never told me, but I did once get him to say a little of how we got here. Apparrantly we hailed from Talen'sul. Something happened that caused him to take me and run away."

Sky fell quiet, pondering how much more to let loose. She already had a lot of lines out, and the fish was caught, so to speak...but, she decided, there was no harm in keeping him interested. "We went to many places as I grew from a toddler to a younger child. When I was ten or so, I've lost track of the years, we wound up here."

She then laughed, "A crazy couple, I say this with as much fondness as I can, took me and Eclipse in, mistaking us for their dead children. We remained with them for years before my brother determined that he was going to be a priest of Soahc. So, he left and I too wanted to follow him.

After waiting a few more years, and letting my curiosity boil, I too joined up at the temple, and so...here I am."

Constantine nodded, intrigued by her story. "So you were of citizen stock?" he inquired, making a vague gesture to indicate he meant the masses that lived in Flux in a degenerative state.

"Yes; they were certainly not well in the means of monetary goods, but they did a good enough job caring for us," Sky gave an idle shrug and smiled.

Privately Constantine was surprised but he had heard more than one story of children being raised in the chaotic mess of the 'township'. Soahc only knew how.

"Interesting," he murmured and stared avidly at Sky.

Sky stared right back at him, eyes bright. "However, now if you want to know more of me, you have to me more about you. A fair exchange, yes?"

Constantine nodded and thought about what to say. "My mentor was a man named Sketch. That wasn't his real name, obviously, but as many of us here have our own pet names, that was his. He was a Proud one too, though he excelled at the Arts. It might go against my creed to say this but he well deserved his pride. His art was magnificent. When he died, Flux lost one of its finest artists."

"It is always such a pity to loose one who is great at something; however, your mentor did something even greater, by having you as an apprentice, a student. Now, what else should I tell you..."

Sky thought about it, rifling through all of her memories. She could say something of herself, or something that she had found out. A little of both, perhaps. "If I was mentored by anyone, it would have been my brother. However, I grew up most of my life living it as a boy. It made things rather interesting to do. My brother didn't want me to become a priest of Soahc, and he never told me why, though I think I might have found out recently." She waited a proper amount of time before saying, "My brother was in a relationship with the former High Priestess, Dreamwarp."

Constantine's eyes widened slightly. "Oh!" He furrowed his brow suddenly. "Oh. Well. For a moment I was surprised and then I remembered it is Dreamwarp we are talking about. She didn't get to the top of the Lustful ranks by snubbing anyone who looked her way. How does this relate to your brother not wanting you to be a priestess?"

"I grew up believing, well, acting as though I were a boy. I think he did not want me there to see him in his...less then glorious days."

[Kender Bard]

"I suppose," Constantine agreed reluctantly. "My siblings never tried to shelter me. Though I suppose there wasn't much to be sheltered from in Mentis."

He sighed as thoughts turned to his family a bit. It'd been a long time... but he couldn't really go back.

He frowned, hearing commotion in the halls. Getting up, he opened the door and stuck his head out. "What's the racket?" he asked, more curious than annoyed.

"High priest's been picked and they're heading to the Wrathful wing!" a passing acolyte announced, running to go see.

Sky stood and went to stand behind Constantine, attempting to hear better. "A Wrathful for Head Priest?" she asked, highly curious. "I wonder who. Shall we go and see?"

"Sure," Constantine agreed and slipped into the hallway to go join the masses.

Sky remained briefly behind, waiting to ensure that Constantine was well on his way and hidden in the crowds before turning around. Carefully she began to search through his things: she soon was awarded with what she sought.

Three cards tucked into a copy of the Scrolls of Anarchy. Pocketing them, she made sure the room looked exactly how it should, and left.
