The Bard Guild and School are collectively known as the Bardic College. It's a place where bards of all types can come hone their skills in song and story or learn a new one. Whether a life-long professional or a novice entertainer, all who have a love of performing their bardic craft are welcome here. A bit of friendly competition and banter between fellow bards is a common occurrence wherever these performers gather, but if things ever come to blows, don't expect to be allowed to stay.
Though the school and guild are connected, it is possible to be associated with one and not the other. A guild member need not have been taught his craft at the school, and those attending the school are not required to seek guild membership.
For a fee of 75 copper per year and 3% of his performance earnings, a guild bard finds more steady income and guaranteed work than a street performer or traveling bard.
(Note: This is a lower amount than asked for at the Ilyamen and Talen'sul guilds, which require considerably more funding due to their size.)
The bard school serves first and foremost as a place of teaching for any who wish to learn the bardic arts, whether they plan to become actual bards. Parents who wish their children to learn music and such, as well as those who wish such training for themselves are just as welcome as any who call themselves bards.
The arts taught include singing, string and wind instruments, percussion, oration, dance, and acrobatics, to name a few.
More information on the Bardic Colleges may be found here.
