Sashi smiled back and settled down for a good night's sleep. The next day, after a heart breakfast, Thomas took Sashi and Lukas aside into a private study. "I admit the reason I offered to pay such a high fee was because I also want you to help me find out what happened to my elder brother, Simon. Joseph is dead; I suspect that the killer took Simon as well. But his body has yet to be found. Either way, knowing that may very well lead to the identity of Joseph's killer."
Lukas thought as much about the high amount of money offered though felt he had to take another very light scan of Thomas' mind while he speaks. "I had figured that something like this may have happened.."

"I don't like to be duped," Sashi growls.
Oh no, please don't go! Thomas waves his hands quickly in a placating gesture. "I'm sorry, I really am. But I didn't want anyone else to find out about this part of my needs. If it's written down, someone can read it, you know?"
Lukas nods. "Yeah I can understand..but you should be aware that it's not going to be easy to guard you and search for clues at the same time..however I was already planning to ask about anybody who frequents this house so I can be better prepared to do my job. Might as well see if I can find out anything while I'm at it."

Thomas gave a solemn nod, not looking happy but not arguing. "Please don't do anything... rough with them."
"Don't worry, Lukas plays nice," Sashi assured him, patting Lukas on the back. "Now lieutenant, if you need some help with anything, you let me know okay?"
"Yes, let me know as well," Thomas agreed. "I want to have this all done and figured out as soon as possible. If we take too long, the guards will bring me to my trial and then it doesn't matter what you know. My fate will be in the hands of the people."

"Well it's morning and the family breakfast is about to start," Thomas explained. "We'll all be together for that. Afterwards, we all drift off to our various duties. Some of my sisters have jobs and others stay at home and oversee things. This household does run like a business at times."

"Then to breakfast," Thomas announced, leading both of them to a level with a large dining room and kitchen. Already, most of his sisters had assembled, and those who were late were not long in coming. Two places, one on either side of Thomas, had been set for Lukas and Sashi. Sashi slid into her seat and looked around, noting that they were not greeted with much warmth by all of the women there. Ella was openly glaring.
Lukas sat down as well in his seat with a small internal sigh. He had hoped he wouldn't have to sit right there at the table and could be off to the side to probe minds without being watched. ~What do you think Sashi..? Where do you think I should start..? And how?~
