"How'd that happen?" Mat asks, looking amused. Then he shakes his head. "No, tell me later. You both look like you could use a few good meals and a warm place to sleep." Looking over the pair of them, his eyes lingering on Acqua, he adds, "And a healer and bathes, but we can't do much about those two here."
"Sadly," Acqua sighes. Mat smiles.
"Well, I can at least patch you up. Raye-"
"I'll see about food and a corner of the camp to sleep in. Somewhere downwind." the woman, Raye, replies with a smile. She ruffles Acqua's hair, earning a scowl from the girl, and adds, "It's good to see you, Acqua, but you and your friend stink. In all the time Echo had you trailing her like a second shadow, she couldn't teach you to bathe?"
"Bandits aren't too interrested in letting prisoners have comforts like bathes," Acqua shoots back, then sneezes a couple of times.
"Mat, get these two inside before they catch their deaths," Raye orders, then turns to the other thieves. "As for the rest of you, for Soahc's sake, what are you standing around here for? Get them," she gestures to the bandits, "somewhere I can't smell them. The river will do, although the fish might not be worth catching afterwards. Then clean up this place."
Laughing, the thieves set to work removing the bandits and concealing their presence in the jungle. Mat wraps an arm around Acqua and leads her and Talon into a well concealed cave. At first it's a typical wide, dark tunnel -although the darkness becomes bareable when Mat lights a torch - but after going down hill a bit, it widens into a huge caven, well lit, warm and half filled with coins, jewellery and other treasures.
