[Kender Bard]

Farell trembled with the effort to resist... but gave in at last. His whole body seemed to relax as the tension flowed out of it, and his angry eyes dulled considerably. "What was your name again, grandson?"

[Devon]

Saul looked for a seat and sat down to relax himself. "My name is Saul grandfather," he replied. He oddly felt at ease calling this man his grandfather even though he was just using the old noble for his wealth.

[Kender Bard]

"Right, right," Farell mumbled. Though the influence of Saul compelled him to feel warmly towards the young man, not even the charismatic air of the Clear can shake from him a lifetime of cynicism. "You know, it figures. Nobody wants to work for their earnings these days. Young pup!" He harumphed quietly. "I don't suppose you know anything of torture, do you? The fine art..."

[Devon]

Saul leaned on one hand and started at Lord Farell with a grin on his face. "I've do a little torturing myself, but to learn from a master would be good. Please grandfather, teach me the family business."

[Kender Bard]

"Well, I'm getting a bit old for it myself," Farell admitted, rubbing his hands. "Hands aren't as steady as they used to be. That's important - make the wrong cut and you might just kill whoever you were working on. They say torture is a simple thing to do, but I say they're wrong. It takes a certain amount of skill, of nerve, and of creativity. Their new head torturer is not bad though, I trained him myself before I retired."

[Devon]

"Train me," Saul ordered more than asked. "I want to see just what it is you do, besides I can't keep the family name going if I don't continue the family business."

[Kender Bard]

Moving stiffly, Farell rose up and looked about for his bell. Ringing it, he summoned a servant.

"Get my coat," he ordered. The servant obliged. Once ready to head out, he wordlessly did so, expecting Saul to follow. He was heading towards Morilanta's church to evil. "What do you know of your religion, boy?"

[Devon]

Saul followed Farell quickly and almost wanted to curse himself at the noble's question. He had done a fair bit of research while in Morilanta, but he didn't cover their religious belief. "Tell me all I need to know about Evil," he ordered.

[Kender Bard]

(*lazy*)

As Farell fills in Saul, he looks around and grabs the nearest acolyte. "Where is the High Priestess!"

"In her inner sanctum with Lord Nissar," the acolyte stammered.

Sulking, Farell let go of the child. "Well we will have to wait a while."

[Devon]

Saul nodded to Lord Farell. "We have plenty of time to wait, I'll be fine with it. Who is this new torturer you trained? I at least want to know the name of the man whose job I plan on taking." Saul grinned at Farell, there was nothing he loved more than a good challenge.

[Kender Bard]

Farell frowned, though not at Saul. He had difficulty remembering. "Carson, I think," he mumbled. "I don't remember exactly though. It was something like that. His name wasn't important. His skill was."

After a bit of a wait, the acolyte returned, with a bob. "The High Priestess will see you."

Saul stretched and rose, grunting as his bones creaked a little and headed off to follow the sprightly acolyte. "Come on, we need to go through Rajani if we are to speak with Carson or whomever. That woman is a tyrant in her own when it comes to knowing what's going on in her temple. I suppose it's the only way to survive."

Halfway there, Rajani met them, looking quite annoyed that she had to leave her lord's presence. "Yes? What is it? What do you want, old man?"

Saul scowled at her. "This is my grandson. I wish to show him the head torturer, so he can see what it is that I used to do."

Rajani looked at Saul with a little sniff. "Haven't seen you before. You certainly don't look like you were born yesterday." It was both a compliment and an accusation.

[Devon]

Saul smiled in her presence and bowed a little. "Pleasure to meet you High Priestess. My grandfather likes his privacy, if you haven't seen me before it is because he didn't want me to be seen." Saul turned to Lord Farell with a grin and implied an order in the form of a question, "Isn't that right grandfather?" Turning to Rajani again he continued, "I don't plan on idly living off our family's noble name." he said. "I want to meet Carson so I won't feel as bad when I replace him." His tone wasn't meant to imply murder, but it did lave a hint that he was willing to do whatever he had to for what he wanted.

[Kender Bard]

Rajani's scowled turned up into a little smile. This man spoke her language, and she liked that. "Well then, let's show you off," she decided. "I cannot go with you, of course, as I have other matters to attend. However, I do ask you not be so blunt around the man. It's his territory - if he feels like slitting your throat, that's his prerogative. Have a good day, young man." Turning, she walked off.

"That's good," Farrel enthused quietly. "You impressed her."

[Devon]

Saul nodded at Farrell and replied, "We seem to understand each other." Saul waited for Farrell to lead him to Carson. Turning the to the older gentleman he mused his plans. "I think I'll start by working under him. Of course I'll need your recommendation, he should listen to you."

[Kender Bard]

"He should," Farrell grunted discontently. Once down into the lower levels of the church, moans and screams were a commonplace sound. Either the people who worked down here blocked it out, or they liked it. Generally it was the latter. Even Farrell started to smile a little at the old symphony of his past life.

It didn't take long to locate Carson. He was methodically making incisions to a man on the rack, stretching him at precise moments for the most exquisite pain and blood results. Spotting the two he paused his work and scowled at them. "What the hell do you two want?"
