[Kender Bard]

Rajani smoothed her robes carefully. These were her favorite, elaborate ones that she did not wear often. Sighing, she noted she would have to find a seamstress soon.. but not yet.

As the priests rushed to prepare one of the service rooms for the upcoming event, Rajani hastily made her way to Nissar.

Nissar was in his personal quarters, just finishing dressing in his finest garb for the upcoming event.

[Kender Bard]

"You look striking, as always Lord," Rajani complimented, hesitating at the threshold. "I thought to do you honor by allowing you to escort me to the pulpit on your way to the church. It is always good for the people, particularly these people, to be reminded that the church and the head are united."

Nissar frowns and approaches her. "Perhaps. Though I need extra security for us both during this event."

[Kender Bard]

Rajani smiled at that, nodding. "I understand but this time you must trust me and my measurements. You are not the only one who must keep ever-watchful of their life... You are in good hands, Lord. Mine."

Nissar nods after a momentary look through her mind. "Lead the way then."

Rajani took his arm in her own and walked back to the service room where now the four noble families were milling about, glaring at one another. At the approach of the two, they bowed and took their seats.

Rajani released Nissar and went to the pulpit, beginning her sermon. It was mostly one to remind all their priveleges and duties - such as they were - as well as honoring their betters. It was brought to a close fairly quickly, to the relief of all, and then the food was brought out and the heads of the households flocked around Nissar, all honey smiles.

"How well have you settled in your position, m'Lord?" Lord Vince asked of him.

Nissar kept a watchful 'eye' on the thoughts of the nobles as he gave a grim smile to Lord Vince. "Much like a second skin in fact. How long until your sister's ailment is expected to pass away into Taed's arms?"

(^_^' Hope you don't mind my improv or whatever...)

((Not at all.))

Lord Vince's eye twitched faintly. His mind roared with hostile thoughts - but not at Nissar, no. At Lady Angelica.

His voice was calm and composed, however. "I pray for her every night," he remarked piously with a nervous glance at Rajani, who gave a proper nod. "I feel it will not be much longer before Taed rescues her from the merciless Efil."

Nissar nods his head slightly. "One can only pray for such mercy. Has the illness spread at all or could it perhaps be something planned?" Nissar doesn't really care but at least it's something to occupy his time so he starts sorting out possible clues from the minds of nearby nobles that may relate to this.

[Kender Bard]

"One can never tell," the man said lightly, but his eyes slid towards Lady Angelica and his hateful thoughts seemed to scream out at her.

Angelica was smiling, ignoring him. She had eyes only for Nissar right now. "My lord," she purred to him sweetly. "You have been so busy... Perhaps you could use some assistance in finding some idle time with which to fill with pleasurable activities?"

Nissar looked to Angelica and raised an eyebrow. "Strange, I would have thought that of all the houses, yours would be most busy trying to recover from the loss of your gold mine..it must have been difficult finding time for this event."

[Kender Bard]

Lady Angelica lapsed into scorned silence, her mind seething with shame and anger at Nissar that he would shoot her down so swiftly. Lord Vince's monotony of hateful thoughts quieted as he indulged in a small moment of gloating, and near Nissar, Rajani smiled to herself, pleased and secure in her position with her lord.

In the momentary pause, Lord Renatus spoke up. "So, my Lord, I have had a few interesting thoughts of our economy you may be interested in. If my theory is correct, it would keep the lower class down where they belong, and those of us more blessed in good money. Of course it would require a considerable investment on the part of the noble in question, but I believe the rewards are well worth the expense."

Nissar raised an eyebrow at the man and curiously inspected his mind. "And what would these thoughts be?" Inwardly he found it amusing that a man who was once a mere merchant would come up with such a concept but can see why he would want to prevent other commoners from rising like he did.

[Kender Bard]

Renatus's plans were clouded - the man was wary of Nissar and guarding his thoughts from casual poking with a mental steeliness, but mostly by clouding his mind with excited thoughts of rising even further in status and esteem by currying Nissar's favor. "Well perhaps we could discuss it at length in private at some point. It is hardly a social matter."
