Vortai doesn't stop himself from watching the neckline on her dress plunge. She's a good looking girl, he doesn't hesitate to admit that to himself, affording himself a glance but trying to be proper enough not to stare. Its not like she wouldn't notice anyway, seeing minute details is how you become a good thief, and he was flat out looking to be blunt.

"I see you have been keeping yourself in good order too Echo, if you don't mind me saying so."

This was said ninety nine percent because it was true, and one percent because he likes picking on his sister. He tries to be on guard in both action and speech though, he can't afford offend anyone, for both the sake of the mission and the fact that he likes these people. Its a fine line he walks of disliking the organization but being friends of those within it.

"Vortai!" Acqua hisses, grimacing. Echo smirks.

"Thank you, Vortai," she tells him, letting a hint of a purr creep into her tone. "I see you've gained a silver tounge along with other... developments."

"Ugh, I'm not watching this," Acqua says, half honest discomfort with the flirting, half taking an excuse to disappear. "See you two later." With that she gets out of her seat and walks off to mingle with other guild members, vanishing into the crowd easily. Shooting Vortai a jealous look, Mat makes his excuses before heading off to find a more responsive girl to chat up.

Echo's smile is heartening, and he is hoping his sister isn't as put off as her very sudden reaction suggests. Mat, did all that Vortai expected him too, he does feel kind of sorry for all this, he just kind of got caught up. He had an inner sigh, but ultimately turned his total focus to Echo, resting his chin on his knuckles and possessing an ever so slight contented smile.

"Whatever silver tongue I have is nothing but the truth Echo, I'm sure you are more then skilled enough to rip me apart if I were insincere. As far as everything else, being social was never my best set of abilities, the best of what I've picked up so far really can't be displayed sitting in a bar."

He seriously didn't grasp the innuendo that was in that last statement when he said it until long after he said it. In all honesty he meant he needed a long sword on a training ground to show how he has grown. Saying a slight prayer to all six forces at once he just held his ground, realizing whatever distraction he might have been giving his sister might have disappeared awfully fast.

"Oh really?" Echo asks, her tone smooth, but with a note of challenge to it. She's skeptical, but she's bored and Vortai's good looking enough to interrest her. And he certainly wouldn't be the first novice in her bed, should he take her up on the challenge.

Vortai, did not at all expect that to be her reaction, which in turn caused him to swallow his tongue for the briefest of moments. He took a quick breath to collect himself and just as swiftly turned back to the conversation.

"Of course Echo, I really feel that a much more private setting would be appropriate. It really would be easier to show you all of my developments, if you are so inclined."

He tried to sound confident, if nothing else that might be the the breaking point to all this. He made sure that his eyes met hers, for the time being not allowing them to wander at the slightest. There was the slightest fear of failure, but it really helped him talk without hesitation that much more in that he didn't expect anything to begin with.

Echo smiles as she stands up. "I must admit, I'm intrigued," she replies. "Well if privacy is required, perhaps this would be best continued in my rooms?" She glances at Vortai, giving him a last chance to back down.

Vortai, being caught a little less by surprise now stood up and nodded agreement to Echo. There was still a large part of him that could hardly believe this was happening, but that same large part also intelligently agreed not to argue. The small part that was ready was frantically trying to figure out what was the best way to do this.

"I do believe that would be the best choice, please lead the way."

Echo grins and leads Vortai off to her room, the sight earning Vortai some half admiring, half jealous looks from other men around the guild.

(And fade to black for those two while we see what Acqua's up to.)

After half an hour or so of socialising, Acqua makes a pretence of leaving to head home. Instead of actually leaving for Talen'sul though, she hides in the darkness of the tunnels and waits, listening for the guild to fall into the silence that comes when everyone has either retreated to beds or home for the night. Only then does she creep out and pick the lock on the door Echo came out of earlier.

The lock clicks open, but Acqua hesitates to go in. Part of her desperately wants to stop this, to relock the door and pretend she'd never considered betraying her best friend, but... "Why can't doing what's right ever also be doing what's easy?" she whispers, before taking a slow, deep breath and pushing the door open.

Flash looks up as Acqua enters, having heard her whisper comment. "Hello Acqua," he greets her, getting to his feet. "Didn't expect to see you down here."

"Yeah, well, I guess we're both where we shouldn't be," Acqua replies. Seeing that Flash is in good health, she adds, "Come on, before I change my mind about this." Without another word, the thief and ex-thief slip out of the Guild, heading for the mansion.

(And back to Echo and Vortai now the show's over.)

Echo purrs softly as she looks at Vortai, not bothering to pull the blankets over her body. "Did you have fun, Vortai?" she asks with a gleam of mischief in her eyes.

Vortai, as much as Echo was just as he were as the events concluded, all and all he was looking quite content with himself. The look on her face only gave him that much more confidence in where he is right now. With a soft motion he ran his fingers over her from shoulder to as far as he could reach.

"I'm sure you know you don't have to ask that," he says with a grin, "more importantly is whether or not you enjoyed it. I may be new at this but I hate to displease."

"Trust me Vortai," Echo laughs. "You're going to make some girl feel very lucky one of these days." She purrs in enjoyment of his fingers running over her body. "Yes, I enjoyed it."

Vortai enjoyed her purr and without a second thought ran his fingers back up her once more. He knew that this had to come to an end at some point, and was kind of glad that there were few strings attached, he just didn't want it all to end too soon.

"I'm glad for that," rolling his neck trying to get his bearings, "anything else I can do for you, or is this where I get off? Wouldn't want to leave without thanking you properly."

Chock this down to inexperience and just enjoying the rush of it all. Nothing wrong with enjoying something enough that you want to try it again he thought. That, and just for a little while longer he wants to keep back that slight guilty feeling that is nagging at him from the back of his head. Echo has always been a friend, and best friend to his sister, not to mention that he was trying to see somebody else all along while this was happening.

Echo purrs again, a hint of gentle laughter in her tone. "You're a sweet one, aren't you Vortai?" she comments, leaning over to give him a kiss on the cheek. "And a good friend too. But as much as I'd enjoy keeping you here for another few days, I think Kitten would get a little annoyed." Giving Vortai another kiss as a friendly farewell, she adds, "This isn't the place for you, Vortai. Go home to your princess and keep Kitten out of trouble, if you can."

Vortai accepted her affection with a smile, not even prepared to really receive such attention. He rolls off the bed and gets onto his feet, dressing himself casually enough. Allowing himself one last look he turned himself around and let his gaze fall over Echo.

"It is true, I'm not about to argue. Acqua is probably going to get after me for this as it is. Seriously Echo, if nothing else thanks for the memory. I might not be your proudest creation as a thief, but if you ever need a friend for something else look me up."

He turned about and gave her a simple wave as he walked to the door. She was a good woman at heart, and he is very conscious that he loves the people in the guild. As she very aptly realized though this isn't the place for him, he just hoped that Acqua could do what she needed to and he was as good as gone as far as the guild goes.
