Lucifer, King of Khelek, surveyed the expanse of his new domain from an upper balcony. The Ice/Wind's expression held no particular emotion, neither affection nor contempt, for the land he now called home.
"Lovely view, isn't it?" came the nasal voice of Lucifer's telepathic bodyguard and assassin. "And just think, in a few more weeks, white ice and snow as far as the eye can see."
"We're not here for the scenery, Schuldig," the cream-suited Seer on Lucifer's left commented.
~So stop complaining and be quiet.~ Crawford added mentally.
~I'm bloody bored.~ Schuldig proclaimed to his Mind associates, who exchanged looks with one another behind the King's back. A bored Schuldig was seldom a good thing.
"Quite." Lucifer's dispassionate voice interrupted the mental conversation. "This land is fine for my purposes. If you disagree, you are most welcome to join Nissar in New Morilanta."
Schuldig snorted. "All hail the noble bearer of our sins," he intoned dryly. "Perpetrate acts of Evil upon others and lighten your own burden. He's a Mind--a dual Mind--and he believes that shit? Has he looked into a citizen's head lately?"
"I feel them," the one-eyed man beside Crawford spoke. "I feel the joy from the acts that are their supposed redemption. It kills the Love left in their own hearts." He smiled darkly.
"Sweet religion. Truly an opiate for the masses," Schuldig laughed.
"I often wonder how you survived so long in Morilanta with that type of cynicism, Schuldig," Lucifer said, turning to look at the flame-haired telepath.
"The same as you, Your Majesty," Schuldig said with a smirk. "I kept my thoughts to myself and, in my case, played with those of others instead."
"I trust you'll keep your thoughts silent when I meet with the former Leader's advisor; I've sent a summons to his mansion," Lucifer said, stepping away from the balcony.
"I hope you weren't fond of the messenger," Schuldig commented.
"He is suitably expendable."

Nagi approached Dispator's residence with apparent calmness. He knew the suspcions about the advisor, but was relatively unconcerned. He might be the youngest member of Lucifer's group of personal assassins, but he was far from helpless. He knocked on the mansion door and stepped back, waiting.
