Nariobi hissed darkly in her sleep, sensing intrusion, but unable to stop it...
Her mind was a dark place whipped by black wind, hundreds of voices rang, all of them her own. Each told her a different thing, but only the most powerful, her imagination, her fear, her rage, held sway over the girl.
As Mikasi prodded her memories, he was also awakened them, memories that have been locked away for so long suddenly came crashing in on Nariobi. She winced inwardly, the flood took a while to sort itself out into a continuous strand:
Nariobi the infant. She bounced happily on her mother's knees, mother was so beautiful. She put a flower behind her ear. Disfigured father lurking nearby...
Nariobi the child. Father's immense rage, his wind shrieking in Nari's ears. Mother's desperate cries, her vines growing around father's ankles. He ripped them away and grabbed hold of Nari's tail, knife flashing in the light. Mother throwing vines around his neck....Father turning his knife against his wife....Blood...Then fire...then lonelyness....Shabi and his kindness, he brought rats and water, coaxing Nariobi out of the shadows...
Nariobi the adolesant. Travelling to far places, frightening men trying to grab her clothes, ugly men....Like her father....ugly monsters....The men laying dead at her feet, purple and twitching, venom mingled with blood still dripping from Nariobi's unfeeling face....
The memories of recent days accelerated...
Shabi missing. Boy laughing. Boy's death. Darrin man. Fire. Shabi left again, Shabi came back. Pandora. Old man. Tavern. Monsters. Monsters. MONSTERS. MONSTERS.
Suddenly, an infinately gigantic, horrifying creature reared it's head in Nari's mind. It spoke with the cobra's voice, "M i k a s i" it boomed, "G E T. O U T."
