Abigail dusted off one of the rocks and seated herself carefully, hands clasped around the knee she pulled to her chest. She didn't pry, or ask what was wrong again. When Ryuk wished to start talking, he would.

[Devon]

Ryuk stares off into the distance for a while trying to gather his thoughts about what he was going to say exactly. It shouldn't be so hard, he wasn't used to taking so long to get something out. Oh what the hell, he thought.

Taking a seat on one of the rocks, he faces Abigail and just says it plainly. "I'm leaving Clan Char for a while. I talked about it with Charanth and I'm going to see the world."

Abigail let her face fall. "Will.... Will you be gone long?" she inquired, shifting uncomfortably. "I mean, it's good you're going to expand your horizons, bu-but.... I'll miss you," she whispered.

[Devon]

"Ah. Well..I" Ryuk motions forward to try and comfort Abigail by placing his hand on her shoulder. With a small smile he tries to cheer her up and explain everything clearly. "I shouldn't be gone too long. A couple of months to a year at the most and don't worry about missing me it isn't like I'd leave Char for good. Someone has to protect the Elders, though I didn't really line up a replacement for myself yet." Rambling on like he usually does, Ryuk's smile grows wider.

"Well.... that won't be so bad, I guess." Abigail managed a smile too. "Who will you pick to look after the Elders for you? I- Well, I would recommend Zakk, but they still don't trust us."

[Devon]

Ryuk leans back and laughs nervously. "Well..I was never really appointed that position in Char. I kind of just assigned it to myself. So I don't think I'll have to hand it over to anyone." Resting his arms behind him, he glances up at the sky. "Abigail, you said you'd miss me..why?"

"You're on my side, that's why," Abigail mumbled, blushing. "You accepted me and Zakk, even when he was being a jerk. More people like us now that we've been around for a while, but.... it's different with you."

[Devon]

"Oh, I guess that makes sense." Ryuk looks down and replies slowly, unsure if he should really say anything at all. "I didn't used to fit in so well in Char myself. When I saw you I uh didn't want you to go through it like I did. So if you had at least one friend that'd make living here easier until everyone else excepted you."

"Thank you. It means a lot to me." And it wasn't a lie, considering the scheme of things, really. How can this whole thing be so easy and so difficult at the same time? "And I do hope you have good travels and all. It'll just be kind of awkward with you gone." She patted Ryuk's hand. "I think it'll be okay, though."

[Devon]

Ryuk smiles as wide as he can to reassure her if need be. "Of course it will, after a couple of days no one will even remember I left. Besides I'm sure they'll all enjoy the peace and quiet with me gone for a while. And..and.." Ryuk stops talking and his smile fades. "What if something happens and I can't make it back..or what if something happens to Clan Char while I'm gone. Then I wouldn't have anywhere to come home to.."

Abigail scowled. "Have some faith. Aren't Fires supposed to be hard to kill or something?" she scolded. "You know Father, Uncle Malcamon and Charminei would never let anything happen to the clan, right?" She paused. "I mean, they wouldn't.... right?"

[Devon]

"Oh." Ryuk pauses with a dumb look on his face. Grinning nervously he chuckles softly. "Look at me being so sentimental right now." Standing up he puts his hands on his hips and looks out over the sand. He felt foolish right now, getting so worked up over leaving. "You're right, they wouldn't and after all I'm not saying goodbye just see you later."

Abigail nodded, seemingly pleased that Ryuk had cheered up. "Does that mean you feel better about going? And if so, when do you think you'll leave?" Hopefully it wasn't too soon. She needed Ryuk around for a little longer.

[Devon]

Ryuk flexes a muscle playfully showing his usual energy and excitement. "Yeah I feel a lot better about going now. As for leaving my plan is to wait until the Sun Fest is over, then I'm going to pack up my things and go."

Abigail nodded. "Okay." Damn. She put on an appropriately wistful look. "Will you bring me something from your travels?"
