A Waste Of A Good Mind?|Obsidian, Mount Humontis

Saber follows the other two, and spins slowly to see the capital from all directions. "What part of the city was built first?"

River points to a tunnel in the distance, it is easily noticable because it is surrounded by arches and beautiful underground gardens. It is a shrine to where ground was first broken in Obsidian, and was one of Narcissa's favorite places to stay when he was alive.

"Well that part of the city is the closest point to district one. We started building underground before we settled overland if you would believe it. It is because of the beastlands, our alliance with them is pretty shakey as it is. I thank the Earth Mother for Faolan daily."

He began to walk them outside, if they wanted a tour of the mount the Fields of Flora are the best place to start.

"Is there anything in particular you would like to know Locke?"

Locke had been absorbing the information quietly, tapping his staff against his shoulder when River addressed him. "When am I expected to be on call?" was what he asked. "Who will I most likely be carrying messages to?" A moment of thought, then, "What are the going rates at that inn?"

River scratched his chin for a couple moments, he was happy to hear that his new employee was very much all buisiness. That means that the salary would be well worth his employment.

"Well, make sure to come into work daily to get your assignments for the day, but hours don't matter as much, you will be payed by the day. You can expect a lot of your messages to be going to Cascata of Ronduin and Jhall of Reave as they are Humontis's two closest allies. As far as inn rates, they are worth that letter you have in your pocket right now."

He motions to the part of Locke that is approximately where he slid the letter from earlier into. He knows that Locke wasn't one to take favors from River, but the Earth leader was stubborn about making sure everyone had appropriate housing. Economy was booming, the best thing he could do is make sure everyone had a roof over thier heads.

Reave. Locke flinched almost unnoticeably. So be it. "Very well. I will report in tomorrow at ten in the morning," he responded. "Thank you."

[Kender Bard]

"There you are!"

A feminine squeal rent the air, and Gale came beating a path up to the boys, nearly launching herself at River in a hug. "Hello dearest!" She nodded to Saber politely. "Hello again sir!" Her gaze roamed over Locke. "Who's this?"

River caught her, stumbling a step because she is much stronger a stride then he can normally catch. He took a moment to pull her close and give her a quick little peck on the cheek.

"Hello beautiful, are you done in the training fields for the day? I hope your day was enjoyable. This man is Locke, he is willing to help me deliver messages so I can stay at home more. I must say he is giving me quite a deal on it as well."

He was still embracing her, although with a much lighter touch then before. His hands were softly travelling up and down her side, as his gaze followed hers to Locke. He wondered if she had trouble with his newest hire, a thought which worried him just a bit.

[Kender Bard]

"Hullo!" she replied cheerfully, a hand sticking out in Locke's direction. "I'm Gale Willoweep! Nice to meetcha!"

The Mind bowed politely, then clasped Gale's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well," he stated formally. River was apparently very lucky to be so close with such an exuberant, seemingly delightful young woman. "It will be good to know Sir River's friends in the course of my employment."

Gale just giggled, and whispered - loudly - "You need to loosen up, kiddo." She nuzzled River's cheek. "When's the wedding going to be, in all the excitement, I forgot to ask. I thought I better find out now so I can start looking for a dress soon."

River smiled at Gale when she made her comment to Locke, it was the truth though. If he wanted to be proper and uptight he is looking at the wrong family of leaders. River did extend his smile to the mind though, as he really wanted to welcome Locke into this chosen family of sorts.

"She's right you know my friend, just call me River. You are part of Humontis now so I hope that you don't mind us trying to make you smile every once and a while."

River hummed a little, thinking of what time would be best for a wedding to be held. If he is lucky he might be able to convince the Scion to be the preacher, that hasn't been done for a long time.

"Well dearest, I will say to feel free to do it whenever you are ready of course. But, to set a date I guess it depends on where you would like it to be held. If you want it in the mountains summer is coming up soon. But, the fields are also a beautiful choice all year round, with a personal bias for the fall."

[Kender Bard]

"The fields in the fall then," Gale decided. "So sorry to intrude on your meeting boys, but just one more question and then I'm gone." She glanced back at River. "Are you going to make it a big affair? Invite the other Leaders, that sort of thing?"

River agreed that he would like the wedding to be in the fields. Although no matter where you are in Humontis you can find someplace that would amaze you. The underground gardens were splendid, and would work great if they didn't feel so artificial to those that normally lived here.

"I really need to know what you would like most dearest. On one hand I have been imagining declaring our bond in front of the greatest powers of the continent. On the other hand people who feel obliged to be at such events can spoil it oh so much. That, and I might ruin some important marriages by showing the continent the best girl living on it."

He ended the last playful sentance by giving her yet another peck on the cheek. He would probably invite Cascata in any case, but the fact of the matter remains not many leaders would come to his wedding because they really wish to be thier.

"And you are never intruding by the way, come say hello whenever you want. Forces know it makes my days go that much better when you do."

[Kender Bard]

"I don't mind a big wedding," she said mildly. "The choice is up to you. But if you want to invite some of the powers of the world, you'd better start getting on the invites now." She gave a meaningful look in Saber and Locke's direction before bidding them all farewell and leaving again.

Locke bowed to Gale before she left, and managed another smile for River. "She's a very kind woman. You're lucky to have found each other," he complimented, not feeling quite as jealous as he probably would have a year ago.
