Hard at Work and Play|Haven, Ilyamen

Acqua makes her way through the city streets towards the market. She'd been restless lately, so she'd told Amaro she'd be away for a few days, left a note for Vortai, and headed through the Guild tunnels to Ilyamen. After all, the city is practically her second home and only a fool steals too much from the place they live.

Arriving in the ever crowded marketplace, Acqua gets to work with a sparkle of excitement in her eyes. It's been far too long. Spotting a wealthy looking, possibly noble, man, Acqua attempts to cut his money bag free.

A guard was doing his rounds, keeping an eye on the people nearby. In all truth he was simply checking out the women in the marketplace, having a keen eye for the fairer sex. It was through that vice alone that he was able to catch Acqua and her attempt at thievery.

"You there! Girl! Halt and surrender, in the name of the law!"

He began to run as fast as he could towards Acqua, he wasn't in full armor like the guards at the gates making him slightly faster then he would normally be. Right now everything that is going for him is through the virtue that he hadn't been doing his job right up until now.

Acqua does halt for a second, startled and surprised that one of Ilyamen's guards were even awake at this hour of the morning. A second later she snaps out of her shock and runs as fast as she can, cursing. 'Of all the Force damned luck,' she thinks, praying like hell no one in the crowd thinks to help the damn guard. 'Tead damn him, with all these people around I can't even get a clear shot at him. Gotta get out of the markets.'

The guard was at least persistant in his chase of the thief girl. It was probably due to the fact that he felt he wouldn't have to do any more work for the next couple months if he brought in a guild member. He tried to bring a lightning bolt down from the sky to startle the girl, choosing a nearby rooftop of a stone building so as to not harm the people in the market. It was hot enough and close enough that the resulting thunder was deafening to even him, which would have made him stumble if he wasn't expecting it already.

His care with the crowd ended there though, demanding people get out of the way and pushing people to the ground without giving them chance to actually move anywhere. This probably caused some of the more ego-centric people to part out of simply caring for thier own skins.

Acqua did stumble, her eyes wide as her instinive fear of Storms reasserted it's self with a vengance. She scanned the nearby crowd frantically, but apparently she'd gotten up early enough that not even the other guild members were out. She was on her own.

Shaking off her terror induced parazlisation, Acqua flees again, desperate to try and reach the alleys. Now though people are starting to grab at the thief and having to squirm away is slowing Acqua down.

The guard was able to make ground on her, enough that if things continued like this he would be upon her in a couple seconds. He kept pushing and moving as fast as he could towards the thief girl. He unleashed another lighting bolt, without the heat of the first so that just the blinding flash was present without the ear-splitting thunder.

"I demand you halt and go peacefully! I am authorized to use crippling force if you continue to run!"

This seemed a little too easy to the guard, the people seem to be responding positively to him for the simple fact that they want him to go away and are not exactally keen on being arrested for obstruction of the law. He was readying a third lightning bolt, if she were to go to the alley's he would direct her to the one that is blocked off at the end, or at least hope he would be able to aim the bolt well enough.

Half blinded and nearly deafened, Acqua snarls out a curse, draws her knife and gives people a reason not to touch her as long as they like their hands still connected to their arms. With a clear path, Acqua half runs, half stumbles towards the alleys.

The guard unleashed another quick lightning bolt, not only did it draw a good border between open street and the alley the guard wanted to push her to, but he aimed it close enough that she could probably feel the heat coming off of it. It had been a long time since one of his ideas worked out so well, and he would have paused in awe of the accuracy if he wasn't so determined to catch up to the woman. He chased her close enough that he wouldn't lose her, but far enough for his personal health. As much as he wanted to catch the girl he still thought of number one first.

To avoid the bolt, Acqua ducks into the alley then swears colourfully enough to make sailors blush as she realises she's run into a trap. A glance at the stone wall at the end is enough to make her give up any thought of climbing it and in desperation Acqua worms her way into a stack of boxes and holds her breath, mentally calling to Faith in hopes that the cat is listening.

The guard was close enough that he saw Acqua squirm into some of them. It was a good move though, causing him to swear becaus he didn't want to burn her, just arrest her. That means he has to convince her to come out.

"Little girl, you know what you did was wrong or else you wouldn't be running. Just give yourself up and they will go easy on you ya know? Or, you know, you are a good lookin' lady, if you drop your weapons maybe we can discuss a way for me to let you go."

He hadn't thought of that option until just now, but it piqued his interest as much as not working for a couple months. Outside there were a couple of guards keeping watch to make sure no other guild members got in to assist the girl, as they were familiar via several cases now of guild members rescuing one another. They were the same incompetent Ilyamen guards of fame though, only being here because they were sternly ordered to be. The storm guard was prepared to start setting things on fire to smoke her out soon though if she didn't present herself. He kept his distance so he didn't suddenly feel a knife planted in his leg either.

Acqua shuddered lightly at that, quietly letting out her breath and staying put as she watches the guard warily through a gap in boxes. ~I'm coming kitten,~ Faith calls reassuringly. The small cat makes her way casually towards the alley, but quickly realises that with the guard having backup, her distracting the one in the alley won't save Acqua. Plan B then. ~Let them catch you kitten. I'll follow and bring you the keys.~ This is a plan neither would use in Maelstrom, but it's safe enough in Ilyamen. Reluctently, Acqua comes out of her hiding place and scowls at the Guard.

"Can't you lot give anyone a break? A kid's gotta eat you know."

The guard looks surprised that the girl just suddenly decided to give up, but wasn't about to argue his advantage. Perhaps she really did just find her situation hopeless, to tell the truth he has never been so successful before.

"So don't us guards, and it kids like you running about that make it so we get discharged all the time. In any case, drop your weapons and hold your hands out so they can be bound. Unless of course you have considered option number two?"

He held was very much prepared to take her in either way, but he wouldn't mind having a little fun with the woman. He has been lucky all day up to this point, he thought there was no harm in trying.

Acqua gave him a disgusted look and, despite the plan with Faith, suddenly decides there's no way she's going anywhere with this jerk. "In your dreams," she spits, firing off a burst of water and making a sprint for the alley's enterance. With a little luck, her actions will surprise the other two long enough for her to find somewhere to hide.

He slammed quickly into the wall, which hurt as much as the ball of water that grazed his shoulder. This action did surprise the guards at the entrance like she wanted, but it didn't phase the first guard enough to stop him from catching her arm. After some forceful shifting of her position he eventually got her arms pinned behind her and bound.

"I appreciate your struggle, thats why I am being so gentle with you right now. But my charity only lasts so long."

He spins her around so she is facing forward, quickly and deceptively groping her during the process so the guards watching at the entrance didn't catch it. They would have probably turned him in if they had caught him handling a prisoner in such a disgusting way.

"I'll take that as a tip for my kindness... now lets move!"

He half pushed, half dragged Acqua towards the prison. On the way he disarmed her and handed her knives to the two guards helping in the escourt. They would later be deposited in the evidence box and held until the girl served the sentance for thieves.

Despite being bound and disarmed, Acqua puts up as much of a fight as she can manage, by squirming, kicking and even biting when ever she has the chance. Frightened and disgusted by the guard, Acqua's doing everything she can to get the man's hands off her so she can run.
