"What about your family?" Oliver asks, "Are you going to stop to tell them you're going? Or get them to go with you?"

"My mum's dead and my Dad doesn't really care," Alex replies with a shrug. "He's got another wife and two kids now. He loves me, but I remind him too much of Mum. That's why I was planning to leave soon anyway."

"Oh, I'm sorry," he replies, then asks "Are you going to try and make your way to Talen'sul eventually? You can't just stay in the mountains forever, can you?"

Alex nods. "Yeah, I'll stay for a few days, then try traveling to Talen'sul." She gives Oliver a small smile. "Sorry I can't stay and finish helping you train."

"That's okay, I guess," he sighs, "It's not really your fault." Still, he doesn't look forward to returning to his regular training with his father.

Alex hesitated, seeing the disappointment in her new friend's eyes. "Well, maybe if we're very careful," she whispered, "We can keep training. Meet me where we played Tag today tomorrow night and I'll show you where I'm hiding. Okay?"

Oliver nods, grinning. "Okay!" he says, before adding "If you're sure it'll be safe."

"As long as we're careful," Alex assures him. "Who pays attention to kids anyway?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right," he agrees. "What time tomorrow night should we meet?"

Alex thinks for a minute then replies, "An hour after sundown."

"Okay, I'll see you then!" Oliver says, looking forward to it, although not especially looking forward to his father's reaction to him spending most of the next day not training.

Alex smiles before glancing around, touching her wind sign for extra speed and dashing off.

Oliver waves goodbye, although not sure if she can see him by that point, and then walks back to his house.
