Getting out of Dodge|Aegestrom, Maelstrom

Aaron ducks quickly into the store, pausing to peer out the window to confirm he's not been followed by any of his former "comrades." Of course, as a guildmember, he didn't exactly count his fellow guards as comrades in the first place, but things are markedly more dangerous now. He might not've been quite on the up and up as a city guard, but he did respect and support...has respected and supported...Shadow. He's just glad that his element isn't Wind or Water; he'd have one hell of a time disappearing otherwise.

He's wearing his uniform jacket; normally he'd never eneter wearing it, but he felt it was a good way to keep from attracting unwanted attention. He figures if a guard caught a glimpse of someone in uniform, they were less likely to bother him, and it seems to have worked so far.

"Can I help you, sir?" Jones, the man behind the counter asks with a false smile. Seeing a 'guard' here of all places in unnerving for him and one hand is subtly removing a dagger from under the counter.

"I certainly hope so," the Fire says, flashing the thieves' sign quickly before he tugs off the dirty jacket. "I think a change of scenery is in order, if you catch my meaning."

"I see. Well I recomend Ilyamen or Humontis if you don't want to get caught in a war," Jones comments, relaxing. "Word has it that the Queen lost her mind after the King's death."

[Darastrix]

"Talen'sul in a war against Maelstrom?" Aaron's eyes grow wide. "That'd be nothing short of suicide, even if they managed to win! Maybe I should head out there, " he mutters, rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably.

On the one hand, he knows it's a fool's errand; heading off to a land on the brink of war. On the other, though he's a thief first, he was still a Caelium gaurd, even if he tended to not follow the letter of the law. He sighs and shakes his head.

"Damn it all. I must be the biggest idiot the Forces ever put on Naruta, but I'm going to the other end of the Kingdom. Here," he said, holding out a coin purse to Jones. "Probably end up being the last dues I'll pay."

"What do you want on your tombstone?" Jones asks dryly, taking the coin purse, counting the contents then asking, "What's your name?"

[Darastrix]

"Eh, there's nothing that says you can't be both a thief and a patriot, and Shadow was a good man," he says, shrugging. "Name's Aaron Ward."

"True enough," Jones replies, marking Aaron's name off a list. "Well, good luck to you. Suspect you'll need it if a war breaks out."

[Darastrix]

"Aye, though if it does come to that, I imagine we all will. Sticking to the underground might be best in that case, depending. Speaking of which," the Fire says, nodding toward the locked door. "I'd best be off."

Jones nods and unlocks the door.

Aaron stuffs the jacket into his pack and goes through the door, giving Jones a brief wave as he heads down to the tunnels that lead to Talen'sul.
