Innocence Hunted|Mount Humontis

[Kender Bard]

Divria was enjoying her play time on the slopes of Humontis. Timble leaned against a tree, watching her cavort in the powdery winter snow. Every now and then, he'd send a gust kicking up at her, covering her in flakes so she took on a sparkling, radiant appearance.

"Brother, come play!" Divria called out, trying to form a snowball but it kept crumbling in her hands. "We only have until sundown before Daddy comes back!"

Timble shifted his stance and sighed. "I don't play, Divria."

Divria pouted, running up and grabbing him by the wrists, pulling. He followed reluctantly. "You used to. Come on!"

Dropping down suddenly, she yanked him down at her side and the two wrestled about for a while before flopping onto their backs. Divria lay perpendicular to Timble, her head on his stomach as she caught her breath from laughing so hard. Timble smiled and wrapped an arm around her.

"I don't think anything could ruin today," Divria mused.

[Devon]

Watching from a far Father Cain grins and covers his mouth to stop himself from laughing out loud. He had got site of Divria earlier and was unsure if it was really her, but now he knew he had finally found the elusive DT. "Oh thank you Soahc..you have not only brought her back, but you made two of them. Maybe the child wasn't so crazy after all."

Deciding he didn't want to directly approach them only bother them a bit Father Cain brought his hands together so his signs would touch. Bowing his head and closing his eyes he began to pray. "Thank Soahc, for this blessing you have brought me today." Having a fit of mad laughter Father Cain smashes his hands into the ground as a small quake erupts under the twins.

Divria yelped, trying to get back to her feet. "The mountain is collapsing!"

Far more sensible, Timble just worked to get his legs under him for stability as he gripped his sister close, lest she hurt herself falling down. Since they were in Humontis, he wasn't surprised at the tremor. We should be fine, we're out in the open like this so there's nothing to fall on us.

Still, the two were immobilized, their eyes shut tight as they waited for the quake to pass.

[Devon]

Father Cain continues to laugh now stalking up to the two of them. "Oh Divria, don't be so frightened, Father Cain has come to take you back." Glancing at Timble he smiles. "Oh it truly is a wonderful day, when I first met you Timble, you were merely a figment. Now look at you my boy..a strapping young lad. You can come with us as well. I have much to teach the two of you."

[Kender Bard]

Timble gasps and looks up. He struggles to get to his feet with his usual quickness, and fumbles for his knife, but he's still shaky as an after-effect from the quake. Divria's eyes widen with remembered shock and fear. She doesn't even bother to rise, knowing she was still shaky as well, and instead crawled backwards as fast as she could, shrieking, "Go away! Get away from us!"

[Devon]

Father Cain looks as if he were truly offended by the twins reaction to him. "And here I thought our reunion would be a happy one. Do you know how long I spent searching for the you? I looked everywhere from Ilyamen to Maelstrom, but I still couldn't find you. Who knew you'd come to my backyard of all places."

Father Cain kneels down and softly weeps. "You two have grown so well, I'm so happy I found you before you had grown too old for my help." Spreading his arms wide he expects the twins to come and embrace him. "Come..I'll take you to a wonderful place many of your friends from long ago are waiting for you."

Divria finally manages to stand up, and Timble grabs her hand, pulling him back as his other hand slips one of his knives free of its sheath. Wordlessly, he threw the knife at the priest, and the two children turned and started to flee.

[Devon]

Father Cain looks up and moves his head to the side to dodge the knife, but he is still cut across the cheek. With a look of horror on his face he touches his bloody cheek and tastes the blood off his fingers.

Standing up he slowly at first stalks after the twins. "How could you? I come to you with open arms ready to embrace you and take you away from this cruel world and this is how you react to me!?"

[Kender Bard]

"Run, Divria," Timble orders his sister. Divria nods and continues to flee, as the young man whirls around, suddenly, bringing his left hand up to his mouth, as if he were gasping like a lady. It was humiliating, but it touched his signs together and he mumbled a chant, whipping up a snowstorm, enhanced from all the snow around them.

[Devon]

Father Cain shakes his head sadly, "Why do you fight me? I'm only trying to help you. Is it wrong for me to want to take a poor orphan and give them a home?" Cain covers his face as best he can with his arms and pushes through the snowstorm. Once he emerges on the other side his face his blue and there are cuts along his arms and legs.

"Do you not see my devotion to helping you? I just want to show you the world I created for all the orphans. No adults to rule you or subject you to their rules..it is truly a society made for the young."

[Kender Bard]

"We have a home now," Timble growled. "In Sensatia. Our f-father is going to blow your brains out if you come near us!"

[Devon]

"S-so you have a home now. How nice for you." Father Cain walks closer to Timble. "I'm glad you found happiness...truly I am, but your father isn't here now is he? Besides he'll probably get tired of you like anybody else who has ever helped you in the past. Only I will stand here for you...just take my offer Timble..take my hand and I'll show you to a better life." Father Cain smiles and holds his hand out for Timble to take.

[Kender Bard]

Timble, who looked merely disgusted and uncomfortable with Father Cain here, suddenly took on a look of nearly pure hatred, his face twisting into a mask of lividness. He suddenly runs to Father Cain, summoning two knife-sharp icicles and making a downwards slamming motion to try and stab the man.

[Devon]

"Ugh!" Father Cain tries to step back to avoid the stabs, but he is caught in the shoulder with one icicle and the other grazes his side. Gripping his side in his hand he steps back away from Timble. "You're good boy," he says while panting hard to catch his breath. "I suppose I'll take my leave for today, Soahc must not think I am completely ready to receive this gift..so I shall return." Bringing his hands together to pray again, "Oh lord Soahc, forgive me for being too eager to receive your blessing." once finished with his prayer he causes a slight tremor to throw Timble off while he escapes.

Timble tries to get his bearings again, but Father Cain is gone by the time he does. With a curse of disgust, he goes looking for his sister. Divria wasn't far; she was watching the whole thing with wide eyed fright. Timble gently put his arms around her and tugged. "Come on, sis, Xavier will be back soon."

"Okay," she said softly, walking with him.
