"Then perhaps we could court more formally," Salacia offered tentatively, trying to take his hand. "And see where it goes? I'd like that a lot if you were willing."

Flash looks at Salacia wistfully then says softly, "I'd love to Salacia... but are you sure you want to? What would your people say? My only rank comes from my job, by birth I'm just the son of a commoner, and I'm not even from your land."

[Kender Bard]

"I'm not sure how you run things here, Flash," Salacia remarks, eyes glittering with mischief. "But where I come from, the King or Queen can do damn well whatever she likes. I've done my duty to the throne. It's not Sunray's problem to ponder if a girl he wishes to court is suitable or not. I will court whomever I like, and woe on anyone who stands in my way!"

For a long moment Flash just stares at Salacia, hope, joy, fear and confusion all present in his expression. To have this gift given to him after beliving his chances were gone... It's almost to much. "Shadow does what he likes, he and Lya proved that," Flash admits at last. "Salacia, if it truly won't cause you problems, I'd be honoured and delighted to court you," he adds, reaching out to take Salacia's hand.

Salacia relaxes, beaming happily as she takes his hand in kind. "I'd be delighted, Flash. Just expect to continue getting harassed by my son for a little while." She sighed wistfully, but didn't lose her smile. "He was very, very fond of his father and won't appreciate an 'interloper' as he might say."

Flash gives Salacia a smile. "Then he and I have that much in common," he admits. "Don't worry Salacia, I won't let Twilight bother me and I'll try and win him over."

"Thank you," she sighs in relief, giving his hand a slight tug and walking off with him.
