Amaro scrowls and when the pair reach the rooms he firmly steers Vortai into his room, shoving him towards the bed. "Well you are a right little idiot, aren't you?" he growls. "You think getting yourself drunk will make you feel better? All that's going to happen is that tomorrow you'll be sick as well as grieving!" Amaro glares down at his brother. "You're not the only one hurting, Vortai. But getting yourself too drunk to stand won't bring Acqua back. Now get to bed and sleep it off."
He dosn't make contact with his brother. He dosn't stomp in defiance or anything like that. He just listens, almost like the words are glancing off of him with no effect. He did look like he was shivering with cold though.
"It made me stop thinking about it, if only for a few moments. I may not be the only one hurting, but I am the one that was too slow to stop it. I am the one that couldn't throw my dagger accurately enough, or even be aware enough to not get caught by the same man twice. I am the only one here that all that applies to."
He would just sleep, but his head was now hurting. He was drunk and now because of this situation ALL he could think about was Acqua. He rubbed his temples with the agony the images presented.

Amaro's expression becomes distant as he walks over to the window and stares outside in silence. "You're not the only one who was too slow," he comments after awhile, then shakes his head as if trying to get the thought out of his mind. Reaching into his pack, Amaro pulls out a tiny bottle sealed with wax and full of some dark green liquid. "Drink that," he tells his little brother, tossing it onto the bed next to Vortai. "It'll knock you out so deeply you won't remember if you dream. We'll talk in the morning, when you're sober."
Vortai picked it up and looked at it for a moment. If this were anybody else he would have tossed it to the ground. If it were anybody else he would have screamed and ranted about his right to drink now that he was of age. But this isn't anyone else, this is Amaro, this is his big brother. He unseals the bottle, and just in case it tastes bad throws it all back at once. He then tosses the bottle on to the bed and lays down in it, staring at the wall, grumbling some drunken curses.

Amaro raises an eyebrow at Vortai's creativity, muttering, "I feel like should take a bar of soap to your mouth." Shaking his head and wondering how the hell he ended up with two kids to take care of, even if one was... missing, Amaro mutters a goodnight to Vortai and leaves the room to go to his own room. Lying on his own bed, Amaro listens carefully for any sound that suggests Vortai's asleep.
Vortai curled up on his bed, trying hard to ignore Amaro's comments to him. He just waits until the man leaves the room, pretending to be still and asleep. He counted in his head to fifty, it was hard being patient but he had to, and when the coast was clear he decided he could go back downstairs. A little bit of maneuvering got him to the edge of the bed and then up. It was when he stood up that the alcohol and the sedatives kicked in. All down the hall one could hear the 'thump of when his body hit the floor.' At that moment he had three reasons to be asleep.

Amaro winces at the sound. "He's as pig-headed as you are, kid," he mutters to the empty room. "Forces help me when I have to deal with the two of you again." Getting out of bed, Amaro makes his way out of his room and back to Vortai's. "As if your head wasn't going to be sore enough in the morning," he muttered. "You and Acqua both like to learn these things the hard way, don't you? With a sigh, Amaro checks Vortai over for any injuries, then pulls back the blankets and lifts Vortai onto the bed. "Night kid," he comments, tucking in Vortai's blankets and going to arrange for a mug of hot, strong coffee to be delivered to Vortai's room in the morning. That done, he heads to bed himself.
Vortai awoke, more or less, he felt quite dead and out of body initially. It took a few moments of him sitting blankly to piece together what happened. A few moments after that, his nerves awoke and his migrane struck. He didn't scream but it was painful enough that a tear reached his eye. He just kept messaging and rubbing his head to make the pain go away. It didn't work and after enough beating something else triggered, his vomit reflex. He found the bedpan quickly and let that out, some more tears now due to both pain and taste. He literally couldn't remember too much after his second mug of Mead the night before.
Even though Amaro was being quiet the sound of him entering and speaking still hurt. He winced fearfully and painfully to both, even wretching at the pain. He spit into the bedpan and did as he was told, sipping the coffee slowly to savor the taste. It was better then the moldy bitterness currently in his mouth.
"What happened? Beside the idiot thing..."
He remembered drinking, but he didn't really ever remember Amaro arriving that night. Perhaps he had found his way to bed on his own. Although he could gather bits and pieces that didn't seem to fit that idea.

"You got yourself drunk so senseless that the cat came to get me," Amaro replies. "I got you up to bed, you worked yourself up into enough of a depressed anger that I endded up giving you a sedative to make sure that you slept rather then throwing yourself off a roof."
Vortai continued to sip from the coffee. He didn't mind the fact that he was drunk the night before, although the headache is making him regret it. He started to flat out drink instead of sip when it got cool enough.
He didn't feel terrible about the alcohol, and that apology was rather half hearted. At the moment his rebellious heart just wanted him to be left alone by it.

Amaro waits until Vortai has finished drinking, then gives his little brother a sharp slap to the side of his head. "Don't appogise unless you mean it, Vortai," he growls. "It's worthless and says very little for you."

Amaro's tone gentles again now and he replies, "Don't lie to me again Vortai. If you're truly sorry for something, then say so. If you're not, then don't say you are. I don't give a damn if you lie to everyone else, but don't ever lie to me. We're going to need to be a team if we want to complete this and get Acqua back and for that I need to know I can trust you."
