Spirits of the Past|Aegestrom, Maelstrom

[adris]

Adris pockets the key and grabs the chain necessary to do some dragging of his own. He made the man immediately know his distaste for him with a scowl. As much as he was happy to have what he needed he hated that the world is so distrusting TO be able to make this task an easy one.

"Fauna, let us go, I want to dump this man off as fast as possible."

He headed back to the gates, staying near the walls as a windbreak. When he reached the gates though, he knew immediately that he was not going to make it out that way. By himself he could probably do a long route of rooting himself and make a slow tedious journey... with both Fauna and the prisoner though it would be impossible.

"I wish I knew where the old earth tunnels that connected Naruta were located. That would make life a whole lot easier all of a sudden."

[Kender Bard]

Fauna whimpered, clinging to Adris. "I don't like this, can we go back inside?"

The Cat didn't usually show her fear, but she couldn't help but do so now. Where she had fur, it stood on end, and her ears were laid back. She made a soft whimpery noise.

Adris rubbed the girl's back, trying to comfort her as much as he could at he turned about. He sighed and felt that they were going to be in for a long stay... the problem is he didn't bring money for extended stay at an inn.

"What should we do with this guy? Think the prison will hold him until we are able to travel?"

If she wanted to try that he would send her off to find someplace to sleep. He saw how badly that wretched place stung at her senses and there was no reason to drag her there for a third or fourth time.

[Kender Bard]

"They held him this long," she replied acidicly. "I doubt they'll mind sticking him back in his hole a while longer." She calmed down once they were in some relative shelter, her fur smoothing back down. "Hope it's not this bad at Ronduin."

[adris]

Adris nods and gives a forceful yank to the man's chains. He should already know he was to be transported back to the prison.

"Go and find somewhere that will let us stay until this is over Fauna, inform them I am willing to work for room and board."

He arrived back at the jail, of course looking as embarrassed as could be.

"Umm... it seems conditions are terrible for travel sir, would you mind giving me a rain check until conditions clear up?"

[Kender Bard]

The jailer frowned but nodded. "Well you couldn't have helped it. Seems nobody predicted the horrible weather. I think you're a loon for going out at all." Nonetheless, he took the prisoner back.

[adris]

Adris wandered until he found his friend. Smiling and displaying open hands to signify that everything went well. He then walks to get within hearing distance, also behind a wall so they don't have to fight the winds.

"Did you find anything? Someplace relaxing for you?"

He would work, Fauna could rest. The poor girl had the plague then marching up a mountain with him. Luckily he had Humontis training or they would both be passed out.

She relinquishes her hold on a pole and clings to him instead, digging her claws into his clothes without scratching the skin and nodded, pointing with her tail to the inn she'd picked out.

[adris]

Adris holds her to him and gets lined up to make root himself along a path to the inn. He makes sure she is secure, although his clothes are pretty loose.

"Fauna, you are a friend and I am a monk trained to absorb pain. If you need to dig in deeper I will understand."

He was of course referring to her plunging into his skin, a small price to pay to get the relatively small catgirl to safety. The treading was slow, and he has had to do this so much already that he was beginning to tire. Not much longer until a stopping point though. Even more relaxing when he was able to make it into the door.

She snorted at the notion, casting it off as absurd. "I'm fine," she growled, but still clung to him fiercely. "Taed's scorn! Is the Queen angry with the King or something?"

[adris]

Adris finally made it to a door and all but tumbled in. Forcing the door open with all his might and then entering the building before it slammed with the two in the way.

"So, I guess this is where we stay. I thank Efil that someone had heart to keep us."

He moved to the front counter to introduce himself and see if he could gather the terms of his staying here. He wanted to get back to Raina, more and more with each passing hour. Fauna was great, as a a good friend, but his heart was always with Raina.

The innkeeper look harried and upset. Well, that wasn't unusual. Most people did. "You're not the only ones trapped in Maelstrom with nowhere to go," he sighed. "So, pay for a room if you have coin. Otherwise, I won't throw you on your ear. You can sleep on the floor. You wouldn't be the only one."

[adris]

Adris placed the bag of copper on the desk and smiled warmly to the innkeeper. He couldn't quite guess how long this cursed wind would last but he didn't want Fauna having to sleep on the floor if he could help it.

"Well, I didn't come prepared for a long stay anywhere, this is what I have from pawning off a couple gemstones while I was at Humontis. It was supposed to be enough for two rooms for one night of comfort but... make it one room for two nights and give it to my friend here please."

Sleeping in the ground was nothing he was used to, and if this wind continues for long she wouldn't have much more time then he would before she has to rest on the floor, but it would give her time to rest her muscles.

Fauna goes to protest, but then thinks better of it. Even she would swallow her pride where her safety was concerned, and she knew with everything happening the way it was, she might undo the healing she'd managed while in the Beastlands. "Fine, but I don't have to like it."

"I hope you will anyway," the innkeeper remarked diplomatically and taking the coppers. "Thank you sir." He tossed the key to Fauna.

"Well you might as well share my quarters while I'm not sleeping," Fauna sighed, exasperated. "No reason for you to sit on the floor as well, aye?"

[adris]

Adris followed her to her room and sighed as he took a load off his feet when he found an appropriate seat. He just smiled at Fauna for not resisting his offer to give her an actual room.

"Fauna, I pray you don't think that I think little of you. Even the strongest of women have weaknesses, too recently I have seen one of the forces begin to collapse with pain. I care about you Fauna, I really do."

He fidgeted trying to explain himself to her. She probably wanted to slap him for doing what he did in the lobby but he couldn't help with her recent health problems not doing this for her.
