"Amusing as that would be, it'd cause your parents a lot of trouble," Flash laughs. "Besides, as much as I love Laura, she'd drive me mad. She needs more of a sense of fun, if you ask me." Flash smiles and ruffles Cloud's hair. "Plus I remember when you were born. I'd never seen your parents that thrilled. They adore you and your sister." With a wink, Flash adds, "It's the only thing that kept me from stealing you away."

Cloud glows with pleasure at that; if there was anything he loved as much as adventure and making his parents pleased, it was making his uncle proud. Few people held Cloud's admiration as much as Flash did. Looking at Shadow, though, Cloud contemplated whether he might find a new hero. "What are we going to do if we find the person who took the Queen?"

"Capture and question them if at all possible," Flash replies. "We need to know where Lya is, plus any other useful infomation the kidnapper might have on Mirza." Flash frowns and murmurs, "Mirza... It's not a common name, is it? If the Minds can't help us, how would you feel about heading into Ilyamen and seeing if we can't find out anything more about him? The better we know him, the better we can predict him." Flash smiles wryly. "Maybe I should thank Darkstorm. It was trying to keep from falling into the would-be fatal accidents he arranged that taught me that."

Cloud frowned, but said, "If snooping around Ilyamen is what it takes, then I'm at your service. You know that." He smiles ruefully and rubs the back of his neck. "Times like these I wish there were more Minds. They're sure useful for all this espionage."

"Oh, you wouldn't know, I forgot." Flash chuckles. "Sometimes when you need a spy, the easiest thing to do is catch one of the Thieves' Guild. Annoying pests they might be, but they've usually got enough honor that if you offer them their freedom and a small amount of coin, they'll hunt out some infomation for you."

Cloud scratched his cheek in thought, and offered, "Then why don't you put out word that you're looking to hire one? I mean, don't be so obvious as to say 'we're looking for thieves' but with some creative wording, you'll get the message across." He chuckles. "'Acquirers of knowledge' sound good."

Flash grins at Cloud and nods. "Keep that up and I might start worrying about my job," he chuckles.
"Pah, Shadow's will cut his hands off with his own sword before he replaces you and Tuono," Cook remarks, coming over with two bowls of stew and two glasses of fruit juice. Glancing thoughtfully at Cloud he adds, "Although with Tuono's injury... Shadow might consider taking on someone to do the parts of Tuono's job he can't do easily... After all, you can't serve as body guard to both the King and Queen, Flash. Though I've no doubt you'd kill yourself trying." Flash grins at the last comment, then glances thoughtfully at Cloud.
"Would you be interrested in something like that, Cloud?" he asks.

Cloud couldn't keep the look of absolute glee off his face if he tried. He looked like a young boy at Christmas and almost leapt out of his chair. "Yes, yes I would! Oh, Uncle Flash, that's like a dream come true to me! But..." Here he hesitated. "Could Luna come with me? Live in the palace if I lived here?"

Flash grins. "Settle down, Cloud," he laughs. "I'll have to sort things out with Shadow, but likely you'd be ranked somewhere close to Tuono and I, which means you'll have a suit like mine to do what you want with. If not, well," Flash smiles at his nephew. "I have two guest rooms of my own. No one's even going to think twice if I have my niece move into one as a permant guest."

"Not now," Flash replies. "Let's see if the Minds can contact Lya first." With a grin, Flash says, "If you're not tired, how about we go and see if the city stables will have a decent horse for sale? The spare horses we have here aren't bad, but I've been promising to get you a horse for years, haven't I?"
