Raina smiled a little, returning his kiss before answering his questions. "We haven't taken Fauna to the doctor yet. There was no way to afford it. I have been trying to give her some herbs to alleiviate her symptoms, but there's not much to give. As for your other questions.." She frowned, looking around. "I like it in Ilyamen, but I think I would be very content to find somewhere more quiet to live, and just go visit the city now and then."
Adris nodded, knowing her cooperation here will make things a lot easier. He still needed to get a doctor for Fauna, he dosn't know what would happen if she wasn't there for all the good news.
"all right, here is what we are going to do. I will go and find a doctor for Fauna and talk to him about payment. Whenever you have time go and look for a plot of land and I will see if I can't do anything about payment... with me for the soil and you for the plants, we can have a nice little farm going."
He smiles, hoping that she can get a little hope in her heart for the future, and that he can keep that sweet smile continuing for even longer.
Relieved, and feeling like a huge burden had been lifted from her shoulders, Raina gives a nod of agreement and hugs Adris tightly. "I'll go just as soon as I'm sure Fauna is comfortable," she assures him. "Good luck finding a reasonable doctor in the city."
Adris smiled his warm smile and rubbed her back softly as he made his reply.
"Thank you Raina, but it is Fauna that needs all the luck right now. Keep an eye on her, I pray I shall be able to find a doctor soon, or if nothing else a water type with a heart."
He found a way to release Raina, something both his head and heart protested against as he slowly opened his arms up and placed them to the side, he backed away slowly looking her in the eyes for as long as was plausible, then turned and headed toward the square. This was something that was new for Adris... even with his past visits to Ilyamen he hadn't searched for a doctor before. Maybe someone is near the inn to look after weary travelers... or maybe there is a weary traveler there that might suit his cause. He made a beeline to his favorite spot... mostly because the bartender knew who he was and sat himself down. He said in a speech meant to be private.
"Do you know where I could get some good help for a sick friend, a doctor with some ethics hopefully?"

"We have a town doctor," the barman offered. "But he's been swamped with all the people coming down sick lately. You'd have to make an appointment in advance. As for the water types - well, the locals have been exhausting themselves, and even Lady Emera herself has worked herself to the bone, trying to ease people's pain."
Adris thought to himself right now, there was noplace truly close enough and he didn't know the extent of the illness that was going around town. Maybe it was a good thing he hadn't made direct contact with Fauna.
"Do you know any way to circumvent all this my friend? I know I can't play the 'you owe me one' card anymore but the person I need help for is as important as a sister to me. And I fear it be too late before I am able to fetch a doctor from another town lest I find a mind that just happens to be floating around somewhere near here."
He looks at the man behind the counter earnestly, he needed help and didn't know of any other way to get it. He definately couldn't make it past the beastlands and the clears of Reave don't sound like a tasty idea either. If only he had been interested in plants when he was working on his affinity.

"I don't know what to tell you," the man says honestly. "People are dropping dead from this sickness if they can't get treatment, but it spreads like wildfire, so there's too many sick people and not enough to tend them."
Adris bowed to the bartender and left a couple of the few coins he had remaining as a tip for at least attempting to help. He has two options... one was to go out of town, maybe to the clears and see if someone is willing to help as they are the closest organized town. It gives him chills just thinking of approaching them, almost as much as option two gives him pause. This option requires him to stop worrying about the 'ethics' part of the equation, search for help back in the seedy underbelly of the town. What he does depends on how much time he has, he determines that while it may be a health risk... he had to see Fauna in person. He decides it is back to Raina, this time retracing his steps perfectly to where he started this journey.
"My lady Raina, is Fauna in any state to be able to converse? I... need to see her, I need to know how much time I have. The choices of doctor in this town are limited, it seems that Fauna isn't the only one that needs help right now."
Adris bowed his head, understanding that this conversation ahead might be a little strange, he needed to know though how she felt... if he could leave the city to fetch a doctor.
"all right take me to her please." (OOC: I'm going to save you having to make a short post by assuming Raina leads him to Fauna's room)
He opens the door to the room, and slowly steps inside so as not to startle the ill at all. He felt terrible she needed to suffer like this... he had to do something to help her. He moved closer to her, until his figure could be felt even with the distance he had placed between them for safety's sake.
"Hello there Fauna, it has been a while. I need to speak with you for a moment so I can best determine how I can retrieve help."

Fauna's head lolled on the only pillow in the room. She had a nice straw mat that was obviously well tended to for it was not dirty or old looking. With glazed eyes, she merely stared at Adris and made a noncomittal sound.
"What exactly do you need to know?" Raina inquired, peeking at Fauna from around Adris.
Adris shook his head, hiding his chin with one of his hands as the sight almost wanted to make him turn to tears. He instead turned his attention to Raina. He tried to conjure an uplifting smile but after finding it impossible he simply spoke his mind.
"I need to know some things about how long we have, although this sight alone tells me a lot that time is not on our side. I don't think I can leave town but maybe there is hope. I need to know how her breathing and heart rate are, how long on average she can usually stay awake, and most importantly, how long it has taken her to get to this point."
He was doing some math in his head, if he was booking it and hand horses he might be able to get to Reave within a day, although probably kill the steed in the process of getting back in time, but if the illness has gone too far... he may have to search lower circuts. Something he is not against doing, but it always seems it is most difficult to run into a theif when you are actually looking for one.

"She's been sick for five days," Raina explained. "I do not know when she caught it though. Her breathing is growing more shallow with the passing days. It used to keep her awake; she claimed she felt like she couldn't breathe well enough. Now I can't judge how long she stays awake naturally. I've been drugging her too much."
Adris looked at Fauna almost as helplessly as her stare looked to him. He cursed not having arrived sooner, and there is no way he could bump Fauna up the official doctor's waiting list... he didn't have enough money or skill to beat an offer from a merchant or aristocrat. He nodded with his head to tell Raina to step outside, because he didn't want Fauna to hear the talk that it might be hopeless for her.
"I need your opinion as herbalist and friend. Her life depends on you being honest. Would she survive if I were to try to find a physician in Reave?"
He had prayed that she would say yes, that he would make it there in back in time if he hurried. Sure, the idea of dealing with clears at the moment wasn't great, but neither was the vain hope of going underground in Ilyamen.

Raina took a deep breath, then shrugged after a moment. "I'm sorry, Adris. I do not know what this is. Were this a sickness that I understood, I would say yes, but honestly, I think it depends on the person. There are people dropping dead soon after catching it, and others who are clinging to life. She's a tough girl, and I think she might make it, but one's body can only take so much punishment. It's worth a shot though."
