Diamond nods and thinks of all the chores that she should be doing as well. Hesitantly, she asks, "How long are you going to be staying?"

Locke smiled winningly. "As long as I'm needed," he said simply, and stepped behind some shubbery to take care of his task.

((*amused* If that doesn't sound like a heroesque line, I don't know what does.))

Diamond couldn't help but sigh to herself and think Wow, what a great guy! With a bit of a starry eyed look, she leaves to go take care of the rest of her tasks.

Having spotted Locke's catch from afar, a young Clear ex-soldier from Lacuna holds his stomach as it grumbles painfully. He wasn't about to muck around in the dirt like the rest of these poor slobs so he'd elected to not move into Reave. But now here was a chance for a meal and a little extra help. Grinning, he sheathes his long hunting knife and strolls towards Locke, making no effort to conceal himself. "'Lo there!"

Startled, concentration broken, Locke jumped a bit and some of the rabbit guts went flying from the force of the telekinesis used to pry them out. An enterprising crow cawed triumphantly as it grabbed a liver and took off, which made the young Mind groan in dismay. Liver was packed with nutrition, and now he was down by one. He could have gotten it back, but no one would want a crow-pecked liver.

With a sigh, Locke rubbed his forehead and flopped onto his back. "Yes, sir?" he asked, trying to keep exasperation out of his voice.

"Sorry about that," the man said with a false smile. Ronnie wasn't sure if Minds could read lies or not, but at least he'd make a token effort to seem like a friendly dirt farmer of sorts. Still, he continued to come closer, walking slowly so as not to make it appear he was going to run over and pounce the man - which is what he'd like to have done. "I was just wondering what was being planted out here."

"Lots of vegetables," Locke reported, giving the other man a sidelong look. "The seeds that were saved turned out to be lettuce, spinach, corn, carrots and potatoes. Hopefully they'll do well in this soil. If they do, I'll investigate where to buy wheat kernels."

He sat up again and returned to telekinetically removing the rabbits' organs. Brains for tanning, hearts to roast, the solitary liver to be broiled, and most of of the rest tossed aside for whatever other crow was feeling lucky.

Ronnie nodded absently, moving closer. So, his prey was a Mind type eh? He might be able to resist the pull for a little while. That would just be his luck. "So, ah, Mind type, eh? Kinda risky, coming out here like this..."

"So I've been told," Locke allowed with a small smile. Repeatedly. "But I'm here, and I'm going to help out. Speaking of, is there something I can help you with?"

Damn. It's probably going to take physical contact with a strong Mind to overpower him. Oh well. Trying to sound pitiful and weak, he whimpers, "I could use a bite to eat. Overworked myself today and skipped lunch. I feel a bit.. weak..." And, feigning a stumble, he tried to grab onto Locke.

"Well, if you can wait a bit longer, I'll give you a rabbits' le- whoa!" Locke reflexively threw up his hands to catch the tumbling Clear, but undercompensated the momentum of the fall and found himself trapped under Ronnie in a position that would have set off all sorts of homoerotic fantasies, had anyone been watching.

"Oh, Forces," Locke moaned as his head spun, defenses down from that small scare, and it was suddenly becoming very important not to let this guy go hungry-

FAE! he cried, but without touching his Sign, it was doubtful the call would go far.

Then reason stopped being reasonable, and Locke struggled upright, pushing Ronnie onto his back. "Are you hurt?"

Ronnie shook his head - he'd overcompensated for that stumble and almost landed hard. Bearings back, he gets a sly look and says, "Aye, aye..." That had to work. "Say.. How about you not go anywhere, say anything, and just cook me up a nice meal with those rabbits, aye?"

Nodding mutely, Locke touched his Sign and levitated several sticks and dry stalks of grass towards him as a hole was dug out. While the tinder was placed under the templed sticks, two more were vigorously "rubbed" together until they exploded into flame; Locke soon had a hot little fire going as he gathered the edible parts of the rabbits, cutting them into pieces to roast on more sticks.

Ronnie smirked and stretched languidly. NOW he was going to get somewhere in life. "So, Mind, what say you to finding somewhere nice to live? I mean, I don't wanna huddle in a stick and mud house... Any suggestions on where to go?"
