Oh Faolan...|Clan Seere, Beastlands

[Kender Bard]

Charisma landed on the very edges of the Seere clan lands, then, rather than waiting for Jhaal to dismount, began to quietly stalk the area. "This is the most dangerous land," Charisma admits to Jhaal. "Faolan isn't exactly to be found in one spot at any given time and so I will look for him on your behalf. But but weary for a surprise attack."

Jhaal certainly wasn't complaining if the dragon Charisma was happy to protect him while searching for Faolan, and indeed he held on just a little tighter to make sure he wouldn't be thrown by any sudden moves. "Thank you," he whispered. "You are certainly going to a lot of effort to help our people."

[Toyoll]

Somewhere nearby, Faolan was sitting in the tall, golden grass, his face serious and pensive as he usually was as of late. The great wolf was distant now, not much grabs his attention anymore. That isn't to say that he has become bitter or cruel, he was still generally kind and welcoming, but just enjoyed solitude a little more.

Since Naruta has seen the last of the Clears, Faolan has had nothing to strive for. At first, it seemed wonderful, a time of peace and rest and harmony, but it soon wore off. He felt useless, a mere representative of his people now. The lupine figured it was is Beleg blood that made him like this. He would often wish for some new threat, but always followed by a pang of guilt. It was wrong for him to wish for his people to fear, to feel pain, to suffer.

The Great Clan Leader threw a rock into the wall of grass in frustration.

At the soft sound of a rock thumping against the ground, and the rustling of grass, Charisma's head snaked instantly towards the source. The dragon's sense of hearing was superb. Moving more swiftly now in that direction, she said to Jhaal, "Call out for him."

[jhaal]

Jhaal tensed. More than ever he wished he had paid more attention to world affairs while he was living in Lacuna. "What shall I refer to him as? His title, I mean."
He refused to add a question about his liklihood of survival. Surely, Charisma would protect him from any harm.

[Kender Bard]

Charisma frowned, thinking about it, before saying, "I believe he is called 'Pack Leader Faolan' if you want his full and formal title. I am unsure if an outsider would be permitted to call him that. Leader Faolan should probably suffice."

[jhaal]

With a nod of assent, Jhaal cleared his thoat and called out to the unseen Beast leader. "Leader Faolan, I bring a message for your people. May I speak with you?"
He listened intently, hoping to catch any sound of movement or clue of impending attack.

In the grass, Faolan was rudely awakened from his reverie, the sound of his name dragging him back to reality. He lifted his nose to the sky and scented the wind. What came back to him was most shocking.. The wolf knew the scent of the first entity all to well, it's blood flowed from his claws during battle, a Clear. His hackles raised and a whisper of a growl escaped clenched jaws.

As surprising as Clear may be, what unerved the Clan Leader the most was the scent of the second entity. It was barely there at all, a background odor, a strange scent that held a whisp of power. Perfectly natural, but so completely alien at the same time.

Faolan doubled his attention, weary of any mind intrusion. He moved in the grass, silent, paw-like hands carrying him through the grass maze, a whisp of silvery smoke, his lupine instincts at their best. He was perfectly invisible, watching every footfall, breathing as quiet as possible, moving down wind.

But the Clan Leader was no fool, to attack would seem stupid. He settled down, earth nearly brushing his chest. The battle hardened beast wanted to know what this strange visitation was all about. He waited...

Charisma suddenly stopped walking, settling on her haunches and looking around with the air of a patient parent with a silly child. "Faolan," she called out. "I am Charisma, Crystal Dragon of Reave. I know you're there. Come forth, we mean you no harm. Jhaal wishes to speak with you."

[Toyoll]

Faolan froze, dragon? All his life he was brought up thinking they were naught but myths. But it made sense, after all, Alauvar was a myth to him until he found the small clan.

His youthful curiosity was only matched by his uneasyness. The wolf did no longer consider this she-dragon a direct threat for the moment. But just thinking about the Clear made his blood boil. At the mention of the Clear filth's name he barked a laugh, vicious and frighteningly out of character, it sounded more like the snarl of a wolf then a voice of a man.

Faolan's confidence over the control of the situation has boosted somewhat. He emerged from the grass, an intense air radiated from him. The beast type squared his broad shoulders and crossed his arms, making sure, however, that his ivory claws remain in sight. He was a tall man, looming over Jhaal, his lupine features set in a subtle snarl. Muscles rippled under thick fur, golden eyes glairing. He was not one to intimidate. "No harm? From a filthy Clear?"

Jhaal tensed uncomfortably at Faolan's laugh, doing his best not to appear alarmed or frightened. it wasn't pleasant to be called filthy, but a glance at his once-splendid clothing which now displayed the wounds of war and the struggle for survival more than his wealth would label the former merchant just that. He sighed.

"Surely you don't think I can harm you, Leader Faolan?" he offered tentatively, carefully and discretely eyeing up the Beast-type like he would a customer with a foul temper, trying to gauge his reactions. "I've come on a mission of peace. I only want to speak with you for a moment, and then I will leave you be."

[Toyoll]

Faolan glanced at the she-dragon, making sure she hadn't moved, then eyed Jhaal with venomous, golden orbs. He grunted, "I wouldn't know, Clear. Your kin have decimated many powerful elementals and most of them weren't bigger than a stalk of grass. You think of us as mere cattle, beings that are beneath you, who only live to be your servants." He moved around the intruder like predator would his prey, "And the fact that you come on the back of a creature who's ferocity and physical prowess has landed it in the story tellings of the elders sends....mixed messages."

The Clan Leader's memories tore through him, his friend was lost to the Clears as well as thousands of other innocent elementals. The things they've done in the past have killed off any chance of forgiveness from the Beast Leader.

Charisma watches Faolan wary but makes no move. She's very confident in her ability to deflect any attack, however sudden, should he decide to turn hostile.

"I bear Jhaal on my back because his task is very dangerous, and would take ages to complete should he trek on foot. I have borne him to Talen'sul and Maelstrom with no harm being brought to the Leaders there. I would say you may feel free to speak with them yourself, but we do not have time to let you make a journey to the north just to assuage your own paranoia."

She gives an unladylike snort and adds, "If we were bringing harm and ill intent, I could have smashed you easily while you sat staring at nothing, Wolf. If you fear dragons so much, then you must have had a bad encounter with your own resident, advising half-dragon."

She tilts her head and adds, coyly, "Or you have not spoken with Dragon at all yet. Regardless, hear Jhaal's words - do not close your mind immediately or you are not half as cunning as I was led to expect."

[jhaal]

Jhaal sighed gently.
"Leader Faolan, if I may?" he breathed slowly, gathering his thoughts and his courage. "I think you may have a skewed view of my people. While I admit and indeed apologise deeply for the actions of those who fought against you, surely you must see that those aren't the ways of our whole race? I for one disagree strongly with war. It's bad for business and bad for the ordinary people who support this world."

He smiled wryly and spread his hands open in a genuine gesture of honesty. "Besides, did you ever think that the Clears might fear and perhaps even envy you Elementals? We're people, just like you..."

[Toyoll]

Faolan glared at the dragon, he may have a healthy respect for such a marvelous creature, but the patronizing words that came from her mouth, as true as they may be, didn't sit all too well with him. The Clan Leader believed strongly in equal treatment and anyone or anything who thought of themselves as superior irked him to no end. At least, this is what he thought of the situation.

The wolf's rage was brought back under control and he was able to think a little more clearly, but the anger still existed and waited to be called upon. Faolan reclaimed his dignified demenour, however lowly he thought of Clears, it would go against all his beliefs not to at least give them a grudging respect.

The Clan Leader did not like this in the very least and wanted this man gone, but he would be fair to him. But at the first hint of trouble he would strike.
"........Speak, Clear, and let this be over with." his voice was gruff, but did not hold a bitting note.
