Entering Dark Cloud Village|Dark Cloud, Maelstrom

[Kender Bard]

One of the Fire types shrieks briefly, the lightning bolt striking home, then falls to the ground with a grunt. Its comrades scatter, in seeming retreat, though from the distance a rain of firey arrows descends upon the town as a whole. While the casualties of the tactics are few, some of the old buildings start to burn.

Brem curses and fires another lightning bolt at one of the 'retreating' fire types and dashes back to inside the town to help deal with the burning buildings.

[Kender Bard]

The weaker members of the town scurry about, attempting to put out the fires, but are having a hard time drawing water from the well fast enough. The Storm types give up a colletive shout as the elder leading them calls out, "Anvilhead formation!" The defending storms suddenly pull their line together into a tight, huddled group. Although this makes them a prime target, some of the storms manage to deflect the attacks coming at them with shields of static energy, while the rest in the throng start reaching out, touching various spots - presumably the symbols - of other men. Soon the very air begins to feel charged.

Brem tries to ignore the fighting going on behind him and hurries to the first burning building he can see. He goes in quickly to try and find anyone who might be trapped in there.

[Kender Bard]

It appears all the burning buildings are empty, save for some pet animals. In the distance, the charged atmosphere suddenly explodes in a bright light of electricity as bolts go flying in all directions except back towards the town. Agonized screams begin to fill the air.

Brem quickly goes back up to the front line touching his storm sign again keeping a close eye out for any fires hidden in the smoke.

[Kender Bard]

As the smoke begins to clear, they see the remaining fire types in a full retreat, carrying as many of their wounded as they can. There are still some alive on the field of battle, though, writhing in agony. A handful of men go out to finish them off.

Brem looks around making sure everything seems safe before he heads back to the inn.

[Kender Bard]

The next day, most of the villagers are busy repairing what they can of their slightly charred homes and tending to those injured in the battle during the night. Hastily erected before dawn, a tall pole stands in the middle of the town, and an irate, badly beaten Fire type is strapped to it, bound so he cannot touch his sign. The Fire type is gagged, but he growls through it.

As Brem leaves the Inn and see's this his eyes widen before he seeks out the old man.

[Kender Bard]

The old man is watching over things, quiet now and resting his old bones. Upon seeing Brem, he waves and comments, "Thank ye for your help last night."

[iamtuo]

"I'm afriad I wasnt all that much help to be honest..but why is there a fire type bound and gagged to the pole?"

[Kender Bard]

The elder strokes his chin and smirks. "Partly because we'll want to question him later. Partly because it boosts morale."

[iamtuo]

Brem stays silent for a few moments before speaking. "What knowledge could he have that requires that treatment?"

[Kender Bard]

The elder peers at Brem suspiciously. "Location of the clans that plan to launch attacks, when the attacks will come, their strategies, and all kinds of information!"
